Chlorella
Chlorella is a single celled green algae and is classified as a whole food due to its complete and diverse nutrient content. Chlorella contains seven of the eight essential amino acids that cannot be made in the body, making it a good alternative source of protein for Vegans. It is also a significant source of omega-3 fatty acids which help to lower LDL cholesterol (‘bad’ cholesterol) levels in the blood, and contains more vitamin A than is found in carrots. Chlorella is rich in Vitamin B12 along with other B vitamins, vitamins E, A and C, all of which help to maintain a healthy immune system.
