This popcorn makes a great alternative to crisps or regular microwave popcorn and is far better for you! This popcorn make the perfect snack when you're craving something savory, but be warned you won't be able to get enough of it!
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 tbsp spirulina powder (or chlorella powder)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp curry powder
- 1/2 tsp basil
- dash cayenne pepper
- Himalayan sea salt, to taste
- 1/2 cup corn kernels
- coconut oil
In a bowl combine the olive oil, nutritional yeast, spirulina, garlic, turmeric, onion, curry powder, basil, cayenne and salt.
In a large pan, pour in enough coconut oil to cover the bottom of the pan, add three kernels and turn on the heat to medium-high.
Once the three kernels have popped, remove from the heat and pour in the rest of the popcorn kernels and make sure they are all coated with the oil.
Return to the heat and once they begin to pop, shake vigorously with the lid ajar until the pops begin to slow. This should take a couple of minutes.
Remove from the heat and coat with the seasoning mix.
Taste and add more salt if needed.
